Much to my girlfriend, Rhiannon's dismay, her husband has taken up the hobby of metal detecting. He absolutely loves it and she thinks it could very well be the dumbest thing ever. Well, until he finds her some giant diamond ring or a coin worth millions! While we were on our date night in Myrtle Beach, I caught a glimpse of Gabe in 30 years.....

GO TOM!!!!
Our good friend, Tom, is currently competing in a cross-country race called RAAM (Race Across America) on his bike. He's competing with Team Type I....all guys like him who have been diagnosed with Type I diabetes. They're attempting to not only win the race from California to Maryland, but to break a record. Which means that these guys need to finish in under 5.5 days. AMAZING!
Anyway, we are super proud of him and to try and show our support and wish him well, I of course, sent along a card before he shipped off! However, I didn't take a picture of it and so Tom's wife, Colleen did. And it's too big of a file to upload. So...you'll have to wait :) Sorry!
But, if you want to follow along, one of the easiest ways is on Colleen's blog. I'm so proud of him and hope that they make it in first place AND with the new record!!!!!

Simple Sentiments
Recently, I finally decided it was time to try one of Lauren Meader's Timeless Templates on PaperTrey Ink. And I LOVED it!!! Lauren was even awesome enough to give a tutorial on how to make your own envelopes and small cards to fit in her Captured Card Template.
Since my friend Danica had a birthday coming up, I decided to make these for her. She also was the 4th person to answer my Pay It Forward and was bummed, so I hoped these made up for it :) I took Lauren's tutorial and put my own spin on it. I hope you like Danica's Simple Sentiments! :)
I don't have a picture of the inside of the envelopes, but they're all different pink interiors.

Lexi bug update
Sorry I haven't had a chance to post about Lexi again. We went to the pedi on Monday afternoon for a follow-up appointment. She said Lexi is doing really well. However, she doesn't feel that it was allergy related....she thinks it was related to whatever it was she had the prior week where she just didn't feel good. Good to know, now I just hope it doesn't happen every time she gets sick!
Found out that the steriods she was given make her CRAZY! She has been a wild woman! Apparently, that's a normal reaction. And the Benedryl helps to counteract it some, but not completely. The pedi said we can stop the Benedryl, but if I needed to, to get her to sleep, go ahead and give her some. ha!
Also found out that maybe her lack of appetite has nothing to do with not feeling good....apparently because she's got molars still coming in, sometimes kids don't want to eat. Huh. Who'da thunk? I hope she gets her appetite back. As of now, she hasn't gained any weight from her 12 month checkup and that was almost a month and a half ago.
So, she's doing good. We just have to finish up the steriods tomorrow and then hopefully I'll have my sane girl back!!

First time for everything
Friday night/Saturday morning we made our first trip to Nationwide Children's Hospital. Can't say I enjoyed it much. And neither did daddy or Lexi. Thursday night, I noticed a ton of little bumps on her leg. Kinda looked like mosquito bites. Took her upstairs and B thought that it might be hives, so I put her in a cool bath and let her play for a bit.
Friday morning, when I woke her, she had huge blotches all over her body and a couple little red marks on her face. I went ahead and took her to my aunt's and called the pedi when they opened. They told me to go ahead and give her Benadryl and if they got worse or she had trouble breathing or anything to call and take her in. The Benadryl seemed to help, so Friday night, we headed off to our friends house. Right before we put her to bed, they seemed to be coming back a little bit, but not too bad.
Fast-forward to midnight and we went up to get her to leave. The hives came back full force and her left eye was almost swollen shut, her ankles and hands were swollen and she looked miserable. :( Off we went to find an urgent care. Of course, all of them that accept kids are already closed, so we went to Children's. Got there a little before 1am. We had quite a few doctors and nurses look at her and they pretty much said it was an allergic reaction. To what, we have no clue. Nothing's changed in her diet or anything else in her environment. We're thinking it may have been the illness that she had the week before. We left a few minutes before 5am with Lexi only getting about 30 minutes of sleep and Momma and Daddy getting zero. Thankfully, they gave her a steriod prescription to use for her swelling and we are to continue the Benadryl.
She slept until 1:00 Saturday and has been pretty quiet and sleepy all weekend, thanks to the Benadryl. She's not really swollen any more and her hives are gone for the most part. She still has a couple on her leg. Today I have to take her to the dr for a follow-up. Hopefully we get an all clear!
I've gotten quite a few people telling me that she needs to be tested for allergies. Unless the Dr thinks she should be (no one in our family has food allergies), I won't be doing it. Now, maybe if this happens again, I will. No need to put her through that for a one time thing.
Thanks for all the well-wishes! It means a lot to have so many people who care about our little girl :)

I'm addicted
Hi, my name is Liz and I'm addicted to buying ink, paper, and stamps.
There. I said it. Seriously. I need to stop reading half the blogs I read. They get me in trouble!! I continually want more and more stuff. Even though I keep having less and less time to be able to use it (how much does that suck?!?). Granted, I think buying the stuff I've been buying has helped me become a better crafter (just nod and say yes even if you don't think it's true..humor me!), but my bank account some days thinks differently!!
I would have a nice post up this morning wishing a VERY Happy *ahem* 29th Birthday to my dear friend, Danica, and showing pics of the cute (imho) box and sentiment cards I made for her, but, alas, a migraine set in and I was in bed by 9pm last night. I have the pics ready, I just need DH's help in photoshopping them better. Maybe tonight :)
