Papertrey Pallenge

If you follow the Papertrey PALs blog, you know we've started back up again with our Pallenges. Rebecca hosted the first one and challenged us to create an Easter project. I knew I was going to have a hard time with this as I don't really have anything Easter themed. And DH's grandma always gets Lexi an Easter basket, so I didn't need to do anything along those lines.

So, I figured I'd somehow do a card. As I was searching the dollar bins at Michaels (those bins are wonderful!), I came across an adorable little chick stamp. It's wood mount, but I figured I'd try it out. Hey, it was only $1!

Here's my final product :) I had to stamp him a couple times because my fingers got so sweaty trying to cut him out, that he had black splotches all over his face! I don't do well with cutting, so I get nervous I'll screw it up!

I took a bunch of scrap papers and cut them with my 1" square punch and then used my sewing machine to make it look like a fun spring quilt. And I did put a panel of lemon zest inside to cover up all my sewing!

Thanks for the challenge, Rebecca! Come join me on Monday as I'll be hosting the next four weeks and our next challenge!

Pallenge #15

I want to apologize to my fellow PALs as I've been kinda absent lately! I have every intention of doing challenges, but life tends to get in the way. Well, that and the craft shows I've been getting ready for! I have my third one coming up on the 25th. I'll do a post of a few of the items I've been working on!

Anyway, on to the Pallenge. Diane challenged us to use four different colors: Plum Pudding, Hawaiian Shores, Melon Berry and Simply Chartreuse. Only problem is that I don't have any Simply Chartreuse. So I had to make do with Spring Rain. Don't shoot me! :)

Thanks for a great challenge, Diane!

Pallenge #12

I'm on a roll tonight! LOL! Pallenge #12 was issued by Tammy and was to make a Christmas in (almost) July card. I realized the other day that Christmas is only 6 months away, so this challenge is perfect since I need to begin thinking what I'm making this year! I think a few new Christmas stamps will be in order, too :)

The base is Ripe Avocado. I cut the frame out using a free svg file on my cricut and used Vintage Cream with tea dye duo on the edges. I don't have a candy cane stamp, so I improvised. I used a red marker and drew lines and then cut out the shape of a candy cane.

I tried to make my Pure Poppy Bitty Dots ribbon a little vintage, but it didn't work :( Tea dye duo doesn't stick to the white spots and Dark Chocolate makes the pure poppy to dark. Oh well!

Pallenge #11

I'm a bit behind on my Pallenges and I apologize for that! I've had a lot on my plate lately and crafting for fun hasn't made the cut :( Anyway, Ingrid challenged us to do a card of red, white, and blue AND add a star (or more!). I figured there was no better occasion than my brother's birthday which is July 5th (and coincidentally the same day as mine....although he's 5 years younger).

I used my scor pal and scored a box at 1/2 inch all the way around and then popped up the large stars on dimensionals. Love the simplistic look!

Pallenge #9

Nadine has challenged us PALS to use our patterned paper! I've done a card specifically for the challenge, but haven't taken pictures. This one fits the bill, so I've decided to link this one up first :)

Before I got my PTI Anniversary set, I was looking through the gallery at all the Design Teams projects using Round and Round. I found one by Mish that I really loved. Since I didn't have my set yet, I decided to CASE it to the best of my abilities!

My base is Rustic Cream with some Tea Dye Duo sponged on the edges. I used My Minds Eye patterned papers. The strip of white I stamped with Polka Dot Basics in Plum Pudding and then used the wee bitty dot in the center. I kinda like how they're not all equal...some are off to the right, some are off to the left in the center of the circles.

I then stamped the flowers from Everyday Button Bits in Spring Moss and used my 1 3/4" circle punch. The buttons are Plum Pudding, Spring Moss, and Aqua Mist.

I finished it off with a Spring Moss twill ribbon. I did get my Anniversary set in a purchase I made earlier this month, so it's seen ink, I just haven't had time to take pictures! I always like trying to figure out a way to make a card without the same stamps...gets my mind working! :)

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):

Paper - Rustic Cream, Stampers Select White, My Mind's Eye Patterned Paper

Ink - Plum Pudding, Spring Moss

Stamps - Everyday Button Bits, Polka Dot Basics

Other - Spring Moss, Plum Pudding, Aqua Mist Vintage Buttons, Spring Moss Twill Ribbon, 1 3/4" circle punch, Fiskars threading water punch

Pallenge #8

Diane challenged us Pals to make a summery card either using summer stamps or summer colors. I have no summer stamps, so I knew this was going to be a hard one! Luckily, I was crafting with a few girlfriends and one of them brought a SU! set that had a cute little girl in a bathing suit (sorry...I have no clue which one it was)

I wound up stamping her and coloring her in using SU! markers and cutting her out. Then I did the sun, too. I had no clue what I was going to do with it, but I brought it home and thought it would be perfect for an ocean scene. I cut out a base of Ocean Tides and Stampers Select White. I sponged on some Aqua Mist for a sky and cut out Ocean Tides to look like waves.

I'm not thrilled with the card, but I at least completed the challenge :)

Happy Birthday Ted!

Our lone male on the Papertrey Pals, Ted, is celebrating his birthday today! I hope you have a fabulous birthday!!

Onto his card....this satisfies TWO challenges! First is Pallenge #7 which Sue Ann challenged us to make a masculine card. And the second is the Clean and Simple sketch.

I kept it easy with "manly" colors of black, red and white. I popped up the two larger red stars for some dimension.

I'd love to know what you think (give me honest feedback!). Hope you have a great Tuesday!

Pallenge #6

Wow...sorry it's been so long since I've posted! I got busy with work and home life, unfortunately. And this week has sucked because 4 out of 5 work days I've spent most of the day with a headache/migraine. :(

Anyway, I did find some time to get crafty finally! We were issued another Pallenge, this time by Monica. All we needed to do was make something containing flowers. I hemmed and hawed trying to figure out what to do. In the end, I wound up with no stamping whatsoever!
A few weeks ago, I saw the template for this on someone's blog (they got it from SCS) and thought it's perfect for a fun girly card! Since it's spring now, all the women getting married this summer will be having bridal showers and batchlorette parties and I think this is the perfect card!

The base is pretty large....5.5x8.5, but the dress itself is big! I made the base of Smokey Shadow and the skirt is from a patterned paper pack of DCWV that I've had for eons. The top is Raspberry Fizz and the fun bow is some cheapie pink Michaels ribbon from the Dollar Spot!

Thanks for the challenge Monica! I had fun trying to do something new! :)

Pallenge #5

This week is my turn to host the Papertrey Pals Pallenge. I challenged the Pals to do a single layer card (gasp!) with no more than one embellishment. Quite a few of them have already linked up, so I'm excited about that!

Here's my take on the challenge. A fun, summery birthday card using Dot Spot and Fillable Frames #1. I have a tip for cutting out those pesky corners since I don't have the die to do it for me. Cut all four sides and then take a standard hole punch and punch out the corners. Easy peasy!

For this card, I decided to take it onto the back and make it even more fun and exciting :) I love the Orange Zest paired with Raspberry Fizz! YUM!!

Pallenge #4

I'm a wee bit behind on the Papertrey Pals Pallenges! Two weeks ago, Jessica gave us a sketch challenge to try. I whipped up a card over the weekend for it.

I had SUCH a hard time getting that huge dot image to stamp. Of course, I ruined a whole sheet of cardstock in the process of doing it! I think it might just be the Pure Poppy. For some reason I always have issues with that one leaving a good impression for larger stamps.

Thanks Jessica for a great challenge!!

Supplies (all PTI):

Paper - Rustic Cream, Kraft, True Black

Ink - Pure Poppy, True Black

Stamps - Little Lady

Other - Pure Poppy Twill ribbon, 1 3/4" circle punch

A Valentine Challenge

I have a few challenges that came up today. One for PTI's anniversary countdown. They're partnering with CPS for their weekly challenge and offering up THREE of the new stamp sets coming out on the 15th. It was also time for our 2nd Papertrey Pals Pallenge! This one was hosted by Liz. We were challenged to make a Valentine and use a bit of stitching on it.

I was so glad she challenged us with that because I've been needing to bust my sewing machine out again! I'm thrilled with the way my stitching came out. I think I'm finally getting the hang of it!

This card uses Rustic Cream as the base and I have Pure Poppy hearts which I did a little distressing to and then sewed on a Raspberry Fizz button. I stamped hearts in Pure Poppy and the words in Rasberry Fizz. The final size of this card is 4x4.

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Paper - Rustic Cream, Pure Poppy, Kraft, Raspberry Fizz
Ink - Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz
Stamps - Unknown Valentine
Other - Raspberry Fizz Vintage Button, sewing machine, cricut

Pallenge #1

I've recently joined a new group through the forum at PaperTrey Ink. There's 15 of us and we're all lovers of PTI! We started the group to mainly challenge one another and to get new ideas and give and get feedback! Our blog is called Papertrey PALs and we have our first challenge posted. You're more than welcome to play along with us!

Our first challenge, is hosted by Ted. He wants us to do a card, project, layout, etc that incorporates PAL in some way. I took the easy way out and did a card!

Unfortunately, I have no stamps that say PAL on them, so I had to improvise! I wound up doing a definition of sorts. The part of "an accomplice" cracks me up! Especially when I think who this is going to! :)

I decided I wanted to play around with some backgrounds and used one of the small stamps from Vintage Labels in Pure Poppy on Pure Poppy cardstock. The red large polka dots come from Polka Dot Basics and are stamped in Pure Poppy on Rustic Cream Cardstock.

Since the outside was so festive, I figured I needed to bring it to the inside and did a strip of Dark Chocolate Satin Dots ribbon and finished it off with a sentiment.

Thanks Ted for a great challenge (and a challenge it was!)! Our next challenge will be posted February 7th, join us!

Supplies: (all PTI unless noted:)
Paper - Dark Chocolate, Pure Poppy, Rustic Cream
Ink - Dark Chocolate Pure Poppy
Stamps - Vintage Label, Polka Dot Basics, unknown alphabet
Other - corner rounder, Dark Chocolate and Pure Poppy Swiss Dots Satin Ribbon, Stampin' Up Real Red marker
