Happy Valentine's Day!

Here's a few cards I made for Valentine's Day...Unfortunately I didn't get around to posting them until now, so you get a two for one :)

in her momma's footsteps

Over the weekend, Lexi and I had a girls weekend as Daddy was out of town. I decided that was the perfect opportunity for her to make a card for her daddy.

She picked out the stamps (Tiny Treats: Valentine) and the colors. She had a bit of help lining stuff up, but did the hearts all by herself.

And, just to save it for posterity sake, I took a pic of the inside, too. She told me what to write and then signed her name. She messed up the first e (it's sideways) and re-did it so her name looks like Leexi. Ha!

you blow me away {easy valentines}

This is the first year that Lexi is in school (preschool) and needing to have Valentine's for her classmates. I knew I didn't want the traditional cartoon character ones that you can pick up anywhere for cheap, but I wanted the Valentine's to be fairly inexpensive.

I searched high and low on Pinterest and nothing was smacking me in the face saying, "DO THIS!!" Ok, I take that back...I REALLY love the "I "Wheelie" Like You" that includes the Hot Wheels, but she has more girls than boys in her class and I didn't know what to do for the girls. So, we made a trip to the Dollar Store.

I saw these packs of bubbles....3 in a pack for $1?!? Awesome. And they had boy and girl colors (not shown is a pack with green, blue, and yellow), too. I threw them in my cart while the gears were grinding as to what I could have as a saying....

"you blow me away valentine!" PERFECTO!!! I grabbed some lighter weight cardstock (on sale at Hobby Lobby for 50% off..score!) and set up the wording. This kind of thing is not my forte, let me tell you. I think it took me longer to get this set up than it did to go to the store, buy everything and put it all together! ha!

Once I got it printed out, I cut them all to fit right over top of the existing label. I didn't want to make things more difficult than need be, right? :)

I'm thrilled how they turned out. And, even with buying a pack of 50 sheets of cardstock, it was less than $10 for the whole thing!

I asked Lexi if she wanted to write her name and she declined, so I wrote all the names. She did put the heart stamps on, though, after picking out her favorite color (PINK) to stamp them in! {Note: I used MTF Jotted for my text}

happy valentines day!

I made some little 3x3 valentines to send to the grandparents from Lexi this year. One of my good friends has the Heart Prints set, so I borrowed it from her and made a few cards. All the cards have kraft bases and I just changed up colors and specific stamps.

The first one uses Melon Berry. I think this heart is my favorite one of the set.

The second card is a bit of Raspberry Fizz with a row of hearts stamp from Inkadinkadoo. I also put a piece of Pure Poppy Twill as an additional pop of color off the side.

The last card has hearts in Raspberry Fizz, Pure Poppy and Scarlett Jewel. I made my own banners (I so want those banner dies!) attached to some twine. I love the xoxo in fresh snow with the Hugs and Kisses sentiment over top!

Thanks for all the love you leave me!! I hope you have a wonderful Valentines Day with that special someone...whether it be a husband, wife, son, daughter, mom, dad, fiancee, boyfriend or girlfriend!

Valentine Topiary

About a month ago (if not longer), I started seeing these adorable topiaries on different craft blogs. I finally realized they were made out of cardstock and I thought, hey, it wouldn't be too hard to make that myself! Um, yeah...It took me entirely TOO long! But, I'm in love with the final product, so it was worth it.

The most expensive part of this was the styrofoam ball I used underneath! I got the moss and foam inside the pot from the Dollar Store, the pot is from an arrangement of chocolate covered strawberries B gave me one year, I already had the dowel rod and pink ribbon, and the paper I picked up from Michael's for cheap with their valentine's stuff.

This is one of those projects you start out thinking, "this is going to look so stupid" (ok, please tell me I'm not the only one to do that....), but I kept with it and am so happy I did!

All things

Unfortunately, this week hasn't given me much time to spend downstairs, so I apologize for not posting yesterday! I did get down there for a bit last night and froze my butt off (one of the big disadvantages to crafting in the basement!), but managed to make one card.

I figured I'd pull out Everyday Button Bits and try something different for me. I've never used that piece of hill/grass/mountain/whateveryouwannacall it! So, I decided it was time to ink it up. I like making sets do cards they weren't originally designed for. Who would've thought Valentine's Day when looking at this?

I used the new formulation of Spring Moss. I'm not sure if I like it or not, but then again, I never had the old formulation, so I don't have anything to compare it to! Hope you all have a happy Friday and great weekend! We're heading out of town to hopefully (crossing fingers) get the rest of the stuff out of B's dad's house. And yes, I realize he's been gone for 2 1/2 years....but this should be the last of it. Hallelujah! :)

Mojo Monday

Ok, so I know this was last week's sketch, but I didn't get to it until the weekend! I had decided that I wanted to try my hand at glitter again after a few tips were given on the PTI forums last week.

So, I used my scor tape and I LOVED the results! It was so much easier! I also used a paint brush to swipe off the excess glitter and it was perfect. My heart stamps weren't big enough to fill up the space, so I did something a bit different and used all buttons to create my heart. This was a bit different for me, too, because I normally am only a 2 layer girl and I actually used three on this one. White, Smokey Shadow, and the hearts paper from DCWV Seasons pack.

So, here's my question. Those big honkin' packs of paper (like the one I used here)...does anyone ever use all of the paper? I guess if I weren't only doing cards, it may be easier, but I have had one pack for over 4 years and it doesn't even look like I put a DENT in it! I keep telling myself that I won't buy any more paper until I use that stuff up (I have 3 12x12 packs of different paper), but it seems neverending!

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Paper - White, Smokey Shadow, DCWV Seasons dp
Stamps - Mega Mixed Messages
Ink - Pure Poppy
Other - Corner Rounder, Raspberry Fizz and Pure Poppy Vintage Buttons, Raspberry Fizz Saddle Stitch Ribbon, MS Candy Apple Glitter, Scor Tape

NFL Happily Ever Challenged

Ted offered up another challenge this month. This time, we are to make a Valentine card using colors from an NFL team (minus any that have traditional valentine's colors ie. Buccaneers or Cardinals). I immediately had an idea, but it's taken me awhile to have time to do it!

DH and I love the Steelers, so it's only natural that I would pick them as my inspiration piece.

I *knew* I had to use the word "Steelers" in some way since it is a Valentine, after all! And those little diamonds on the logo? Let me tell you how hard it was for me to draw those! I finally wound up taking a thin piece of paper and holding it up to my monitor and tracing a logo I found online! LOL Whatever, works, right?

If you notice, I used the jersey as my inspiration piece. Unfortunately, I didn't have any light grey for the back of the logo, so I wound up using Smokey Shadow. You can tell the difference in person that it's not black.

Thanks for the challenge, Ted!

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Paper - True Black, White, Smokey Shadow, Random Yellow from Michael's
Other - 2" and 1.75" circle punch, Crayola Pencils

Glittery Love

I've said before that I never really do Valentine's Day cards (make them that is), but apparently I'm doing them this year as I find myself picking up all the papers and colors that go along with V-day! LOL Today's card was actually another challenge card, but for the life of me, I cannot remember which one! Oops. Oh well. I know I was past the deadline to enter my link anyway.

I got a set of Martha Stewart glitter for Christmas from my friend Emily and I thought the pink and red would look great on a valentine's day card! I haven't done much with glitter (hello...it's MESSY!), but I always love how it turns out on other's cards, so I wanted to try it.

Not too bad for my first shot, I suppose. If you use glitter, how do you get it to stick? I used my 2-way glue pen, but didn't realize it came off on some of the edges on the red heart (I did that one first...the pink one came out much better!). How do you get full coverage without getting glitter all over your glue pen if you try and touch up?

One of the sheets of scrap was a piece of cardboard-like material, but with a wavy pattern. I've had it for ages and figured it was high time to use it!

Supplies used:
Paper - Kraft, DCWV dp, unknown pink
Ink - Raspberry Fizz, Pure Poppy
Stamps - Unknown Love set
Other - Martha Stewart Glitter, corner rounder
